One more shawl

I need more yarn... maybe tomorrow.. problem is the only way to get nice yarn is to go 45 miles...

This is the latest shawl. I made this one a bit longer than usual. The yarn was so nice I just went until I had just enough left for the fringe. The color is "linen" which doesn't show up well with my inexpensive camera, but is the color of real linen, not beige but not tan.. very neutral.  I have someone in mind for this one but need to get an address.

I recently found a shawl I thought I had to get rid of, and was so happy. It is a lovely gray, and I made it in the lacy pattern and large enough to wrap up in. It was one of the first I made.

Shawls, shawls, shawls...

As I watch my Jane Austen movies.. I crochet.. I can't keep still :)

This is one of my favorite patterns. It can be made with light or heavy yarn and is so lacy and feminine.

I love making the granny square pattern.. this one goes so fast though that I find it is done in only a few nights.. or a couple movies :) It also can be made with any weight yarn, warm and cozy or light and pretty.

The internet is a wonderful resource. When I was looking for patterns 10 years ago I couldn't find many. Now I can search and come up with pages! I have a notebook printed out with so many I want to make. I have even started a knit one.. not as good at knitting so I hope I can keep it up.

I enoy making and wearing shawls..

My pretty room

It does seem that cleaning an already clean room is so much more fun than cleaning a dirty one... my bedroom was in good shape.. but I wanted to change it around a bit.. so I moved the bed and dresser.. and played around with some new ideas.

This wicker rocking chair needed new cushions.. so I finally got on that and made up rather quickly these covers. The chair is horribly uncomfortable! But I do love wicker.. I only use it for some Bible reading in the morning and sometimes the evening. So it doesn't really matter that it isn't the most comfortable!

I moved the dresser between the two bookshelves, I am happy with it there.. as it fills the wall nicely. The runner on the dresser was crocheted by my Great-grandmother.. I have a matching bedspread, that will go on in the spring. I will need to evict my puppy to use it though... so we'll see :)

I found this crocheted bedspread at a thrift store.. so sad that someone put so much work into something and it ended up in a thrift store.. there are 2 little spots.. pillows cover one and Raggedy Ann sits on the other. I love Raggedy Ann. My daughters got her for me for Christmas a few years ago. The pillows are also from the thrift store!

I adore hat boxes.. and any other pretty box I can get my hands on! The roses are silk.. they look so real, I enjoy them! The quilt covers a wall that has a closet I have stored my husbands books and "junk" in that I will need to get rid of at some point.. even if he comes home he can't read... but for now it was a quick fix to put them all in there!

I enjoy my pretty room. I sit in here at night and read and drink my hot vanilla milk.. Guess I will have to get to work on the other rooms! Warm weather is coming.. and I expect my energy level to go up too. I dislike cold so much.

I am counting my blessings daily!

I am so happy to be able to post pictures again easily! I am out of propane for my stove, so am experimenting with my toaster oven. I can make 2 or 3 biscuits very nicely in it :) I have been making a point of making my breakfast look nice, a pot of tea and toast or a biscuit. I read a bit and think about my day ahead.. I love being home again. I'm not getting as much done as I'd like.. but once the weather warms up I'm sure I will! Cold days make me want to curl up with tea and crocheting.. I'm watching all my Jane Austen movies again, and some others along the same line. The other day it took me 8 1/2 to watch a 5 hour movie, because I get up a lot and fuss around. It was nice..

A Jane Austen day..

I had such a lovely day.. my daughter had to take my car to work so I couldn't go out if I wanted to, which I didn't! I ahve been working at getting my house in order after 7 years of being out of my home and working.. so today I decided to indulge.. I put in the 2010 version of Emma.. made lots of tea all day long.. and crocheted my day away. I was alone all day.. (except for my puppy and 5 cats, and 5 guinea pigs and a bunny...)  :) it was quiet...

I had time to stop and think.. every now and then hitting pause and doing something else for a bit. Baked a cake, had a little lunch, thought about some sewing I want to do.

Tomorrow it's back to real life.. but for today.. blessed by Jane Austen :)

so many things to do!

I don't understand when I hear I am bored being home.. I have so many things I want to do I can't decide each day what to do! Besides cleaning.. which I am slowly working on.. there's sewing, crocheting, knitting, quilting, scrapbooking, journaling, crafting of all sorts.. not a crafty person? There's reading.. writing.. searching out fun and interesting blogs..

I learn so much online! I have fun and meet new friends.. I have not wanted to leave the house all week. I did feel a bit of cabin fever today.. the weather has been so awful, it is kind of dull and gloomy. So I went and visited my husband for an hour.. and couldn't wait to get home!

I'm liking this..
